This morning, my handsome husband left the house in a suit, with a nice tie. Very sexy. I asked him if he had a big closing or something, looking for a reason for the suit. He had a zoning meeting in the city which he needed to make an appearance for. Why the suit, if you're only going for a bit? "Because I'm a lawyer, and suits are my uniform." Well, then I wish he wore it everyday!
As much as I love him in a suit, I don't like suits on me. Fortunately, a suit is not the uniform for a wedding planner. For some maybe. But not for the cHill Wedding family. It's itchy, it's hot, it's unforgiving, and most importantly, it slows me down. Sure, I look like a secret service agent and I look scary, but y'know, that's not what I'm looking to portray. I'm a fun, laid-back sort of planner, so the suit really doesn't make sense.
Don't get me wrong, I've done the suit. But I was constantly being mistaken as the "manager" of the venue or catering company, with guests asking for drinks or food, or etc. I don't mind usually, but I do mind if it will hinder me from MY job. So, I permanently changed the dress code for cHill Weddings.
No suits (unless clients request it, but they're be warned of my crankiness)! My staff can wear a black dress or black pants with a black top, and they can accessorize to their hearts content and wear any shoes they want, as long as it does not hinder them from their job, do not complain about their feet, and it doesn't out-sparkle our bride. I usually wear a dress or black pants with a colored top. I'm not much of an accessorizer, but I do love my colored blouses.
So, if you're looking for a laid back, non-suit wearing type of planner or coordinator, look no further.
PS- I love NPH. Who doesn't?
